Michel Fragasso has built Concorde Financial Group in 1991 that later became the Northwest mutual funds and Investia Financial Services. At the request of the Caisse de Dépôt et de Placement du Québec (CDP), he built and operated a subsidiary of the latter in the financial products sector until 2004. As he graduated University he created a company operating in the income tax filling sector as a subcontractor for multiple credit unions in the Quebec City area from 1976.
His consensus builder skills had him create the "Québec Investment Fund Council" (QIFC) (1998), being elected Chairman of the "Investment Fund Institute of Canada" (IFIC) in 2004 and winning the approval of the "International Investment Fund Associations" (IIFA) to open a support office in Montreal of which he has been the first Chairman of the Board.
Michel Fragasso was elected in 1987 on the Board of the Fédération des caisses populaires Desjardins de Québec (Desjardins is the most important non government employer in the province of Quebec). He became the chief of their Division of cooperation and communication in 1989. Previously he had been a political assistant of Revenue Minister of the province of Quebec.
His special intesrest are history and genealogy. He has developed remarkable skills in research as well as in patronymic expertise. He was president of "La Société de généalogie de Québec" (SGQ) of which he is a Governor. He was the founder of the Genealogy Council of the "Fédération des sociétés d'histoire du Québec" which will become the "Fédération québécoise des sociétés de généalogie" of which he is a cofounder.
He was asked to share his experience as a professor and lecturer. He gave courses at the Limoilou, François-Xavier Garneau, Sainte-Foy and Lévis-Lauzon Colleges as well as at the Laval University in Quebec City. He has written multiple papers and has pronounced conferences in North America and beyond.
